Caroline Havers, biografie

Caroline studied Museology at the Reinwardt Academie in Leiden, the Netherlands. Her interest in anthropology led her to her first job as fair-trade importer of quality handicrafts from third world countries.

Later she became responsible for the organisation of the well known Dutch, ‘Kinderpostzegelactie’ ,one of the oldest fundraisers.

Since 1990 Caroline has moved over the world with husband and children. Manila, Washington D.C., Prague and Brussels were considered home for many years. After a three years stay in the Netherlands – back to her roots – she just recently moved to London.

During her years of study at the Reinwardt Academie and later on in her professional career she never abandoned her childhood love for drawing and painting. She took many courses in drawing, etching, photography and printmaking. In the early 90’s Caroline started working as a free-lance illustrator. While living in the United States she realized that her true creative passion was in the field of painting.

In the studio of Kathryn Freeman (Chevy Chase) she was taught all about the ‘old-school’ technical aspects of painting. Caroline has since then worked as a full time artist.

She’s happy to know that many of her works are in private and some corporate

collections in various locations around the world.

Every foreign country, along with the very experiences and unique encounters with local culture and nature, trickles into Caroline’s art. The warmth and passion of the colors of oil paints on canvas and the speed and room for instinctive work with acrylics on paper, give each other balance, yet inspire and complement each other.

Specific shapes, a striking color combination or the rhythms in nature can act as a trigger point for a painting. From there on the paints and brushes take over. Still somewhat true to their origins, the shapes, colors and forms are balanced in an exciting new way in her work.
